New year new you?

Happy New Year!

Let me start by saying that I love the holidays…I really, really do.

But, this year, it all felt like too much.

Maybe it was because we got Toast just after Thanksgiving and everything is hard with a puppy, or maybe it was because I’ve had too many years of too much, or maybe it was because Nate is getting his business up and running (Prolaserworks.com  Check it out 😉)and he was churning out orders right up until Christmas eve.

A rare moment of peace

No matter what the reason, I just feel like I need a clean pallet.

I’m not really into resolutions.  Do you like the New Year New You thing? I feel like it is just begging myself to fail.

However, after the holidays (every year, not just this one of “too much”) I have an urge to simplify and so this year I have one thought for the new year…

Less indulgence.

In everything.

Stop eating until I’m stuffed, cut back the alcohol, no more frivolous spending.

Do you make resolutions?

If you do or don't, I hope you make 2020 a great year!

XOXO,

Heather

I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
No crocodiles, no rhinosauruses
I only likes hippopotamuses
And hippopotamuses like me, too
Is it even Christmas until you've heard this song?
It cracks me up every time.

In other news...I have not wrapped a single Christmas present yet.

Are you last minute?  I am usually already done with everything and just enjoying the holiday spirit by this time.  But this year is a different story.

I didn't even make any cookies!

I don't know how I can live with myself for that one.

The real chaos of our home:

I love seeing those two goofballs run around together.

At least I got the house decorated.  What do you think??

Happy Holidays!  I hope you get a Hippopotamus!

XOXO,

Heather

Christmas? What Christmas?

Hey everybody!

How is your holiday season going so far?

Mine?  Mine is flying by in a flash.

I usually la la love Christmas.  And I still do...but this year is so hard with the puppy.  I feel so far behind.  I just got my decorations done and have not baked any cookies, or wrapped any presents.

I was at the dollar tree and saw some cute ornaments...

Aren't these great??

I love adding little embellishments to my gift wrapping!  All you need is some ribbon and an ornament or cute tag.

I am going to try to get some done this evening so hopefully I will have a post to show you later this week.

I know wrapping presents is a chore, but I have found that when I am trying to make them pretty or cute it really is so much more enjoyable!

Do you wrap early?  or wait until Christmas eve?

Happy Holidays!!

Christmas tree

Happy Holidays!

So I was able to get some of my tree decorated while Toast was sleeping yesterday.  Yay!

I decided earlier this year that I wanted to use ribbon to hang some of my ornaments this year.  I think it came out so stinking cute!

I get black and white check ribbon on amazon here.

I cut it to about 8" lengths.  And just tied a knot.  The results are even better than I thought they would be!

I only did about 50 ornaments this way, but I may do more :)

What do you think?  Do you use anything besides hooks to hang your ornaments?

Hopefully I can get the rest of the tree done and share that later this week.  Happy Holidays!

XOXO,

Heather

Toast

Happy Monday everyone!

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!!!  I sure did.  There is nothing I love more than a big meal with family.

Today we woke up to a winter wonderland.  I love the first snowfall. I snapped a quick picture before work.  Everything looks so calm when it's covered in snow.

I usually get all my Christmas decorating done in the weekend after Thanksgiving.  This year has been a little different.  I only got this far...

At least there is a star on.  I am going to try to get more done this week.  I'm not sure how far I will get because...

We got a puppy.

Meet Toast:

He is such a cutie.  And sweet when he's not trying to chew on you.  And I'm sure once we are getting regular sleep again everything will settle back to normal.  Until then I can only get anything done when he is sleeping

For now, Chester is unsure.

Toast wants to play, but Chester is nervous.  We've been trying to get them comfortable together.  It'll take a bit of time.  One day they'll be best friends!

I'll try to post later this week with my finished tree.  Hopefully there won't be a little dog chewing on the skirt :)

XOXO,

Heather
